Fig

sanctuary resident since December 2024

Fig is a special boy with a big heart and a whole lot of personality. We became aware of his situation in December of '24 where he was unable to walk on both feet and living outdoors in a small backyard flock. The day that we met him, he was stuck on a frozen puddle unable to get the right traction to get himself up and knew right then and there he needed an environment more suited to his needs.

After Fig moved into Free to Be he received veterinary care where it was found that his disabled leg is attributed to a slipped tendon either congenital or injured when he was very young. Many times, these injuries can be supported while they're young and their bodies are still developing, but at 1.5 years old when he came into our care it was too late for reversal without risky surgeries.

Fig lives indoors in his own handicap accessible bedroom with rabbit & cat friends for company, and takes trips outside as much as he can so he isn't missing out any parts of being able to duck. Grass nibbles, swimming, dirt digging you name it - Fig does it all! His disability does not get in the way of him living a full and fulfilled life.

Fig is looking for his special friend!
