Dustin

sanctuary resident since November 2025

Dustin's story is one that we wish we didn't have to tell, a survivor of a cockfighting operation. He and dozens of other roosters & hens were survivors of the same cockfighting operation takedown where urgent placement was needed for the rescued birds. Dustin found his way to us though not without permanent physical scaring, and has for the first time found his opportunity to live in a home made for him.

We are unsure of his true age but it's estimated Dustin is about 2-3 years old when he arrived, based on the age roosters typically begin being forced to fight, and, the injuries he sustained fighting.  His comb was removed (a common mutilation of cockfighting) and vision loss in one eye. Now in his own small flock of two hens, he can begin to feel safe, respected and cared for.

Cockfighting is illegal in many states, but unfortunately that doesn't stop roosters from becoming victim. Thankfully Dustin and others were rescued from this case and we will not stop advocating against these inhumane, cruel operation

Dustin is looking for his sponsor & special friend
